Talent Tips For When We Make It To The Other Side of COVID-19

Today IMC had the privilege of hosting a virtual roundtable discussion entitled COVID-19's Impact on the Nursing Workforce and Talent Pipeline with our expert panelists:

Dr. Cindy Zolnierek (CEO, Texas Nurses Association)
Dr. Kathryn Tart (Founding Dean, University of Houston College of Nursing)
Zach Daigle (President, PreCheck)

While this virtual roundtable focused on the nursing workforce including licensing and credentialing requirements, here are some additional tips that can help any organization with its talent pipeline.

A. Upgrade your talent pools
A talent pool is a database of candidates interested in working for your company. By building a talent pool, you can fill your job positions in less time with less money, because you already have candidates to choose from. The question is - how to build a high-quality talent pool filled with great potential candidates?

Solution
Invite potential candidates to join your talent network and learn more about your company as an employer and stay up to date with your company’s open job positions.

B. Source for diversity and inclusion
Hiring for diversity and inclusion will be a priority for HR professionals in 2020. According to LinkedIn’s research, 78% of HR professionals say that diversity is the top trend impacting how they hire. Additionally, 67% of job seekers said a diverse workforce is important when considering job offers, as reported by Glassdoor.

Solution
Source for diverse candidates by adding terms like “employee resource group” and “ERG” to your Boolean search strings, along with phrases related to different types of diversity-focused networks (such as “black,” “Latino,” “disabilities,” “women in IT,” or “LGBTQ”).

Regardless of which industry you are in, keeping a strong pipeline will help you succeed once we make it to the other side of COVID-19.
