Tip #9 to Improve Employee Engagement

According to Glassdoor’s Employee Appreciation Survey, seven in ten (68%) employees say their boss shows them enough appreciation; however, more than half (53%) of employees admit they would stay longer at their company if they felt more appreciation from their boss.

Tip #9: Give A Genuine Acknowledgment To Three of Your Colleagues and Encourage Your Team To Give Three Genuine Acknowledgments To Their Peers

Key Takeaway... #ShowMoreLove. Recognition is great. Recognition and appreciation are greater!

Genuine acknowledgments are genuine because they are sincere, specific, and generous. They show that the person giving the genuine acknowledgment invested some time and thought into the compliment before giving it.

To ensure your genuine acknowledgment game is strong, see below:

Shallow Acknowledgment: Amanda - Great job on the infographics! #NiceButWeak

Moderate Acknowledgment: Amanda - Great job on the infographics! I know it had to take a lot of time to create. Thank you! #Better

Genuine Acknowledgment: Amanda - Great job on the infographics. They look great, present the data in a concise manner, and highlight the key takeaways. I know it must have taken you a lot of time and effort to create them. I truly appreciate your attention to detail and creativity in all that you do. You make us better, and I am glad we are on the same team! #GenuineAcknowledgment

Shallow acknowledgments or insincere compliments can be more damaging than not saying anything at all. We encourage leaders to invest the time to acknowledge the work and more importantly, the people doing the work. Feel free to be very generous with your genuine acknowledgments. #ShowMoreLove
